Tiger Woods Arrested on DUI Charges After Rollover Crash on Jupiter Island
MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. — Golfing legend Tiger Woods was arrested Friday on suspicion of DUI following a rollover crash on Jupiter Island, according to the Martin County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to the crash just before 2 p.m. at 281 South Beach Road, near Woods' home. Jupiter Island Police officers arrived to find a pickup truck pulling a pressure-cleaner trailer and a Range Rover on its side. The driver of the pickup was not injured.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said the pickup was traveling northbound and beginning to pull into a driveway when the driver saw a Range Rover approaching at high speed from behind.
"The driver of that vehicle looked in his mirror and saw a Rover overtaking him at high speeds," Budensiek said. "He saw it coming, so he tried to edge off the side of the road, but this is a small two-lane road, and there was no shoulder."
The Range Rover swerved to avoid a collision but clipped the trailer, causing the vehicle to roll onto its side. Woods, who was alone in the SUV, crawled out through the passenger-side door.
Responding officers suspected Woods might be impaired and contacted the sheriff's office. Deputies said Woods exhibited signs of impairment and was administered field sobriety tests before being arrested.
Woods complied with a breathalyzer test, blowing "triple zeroes," but refused a urine test. He now faces charges of DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test — both misdemeanors.
Budensiek said investigators do not believe alcohol was involved but suspect "some type of medication or drug."
"We will never get definitive results as to what he was impaired on at the time of the crash," the sheriff said.
Woods was not injured in the crash. Florida law requires he be held at the Martin County Jail for at least eight hours following a DUI arrest.
The 2026 incident marks the golfer's second DUI-related arrest in Florida. In 2017, Woods was arrested in Palm Beach County and later pleaded guilty to reckless driving. He also suffered severe leg injuries in a 2021 car crash in California.
