Lucky Shuck's 6th Annual Oyster Eating Contest Is Back — and It Benefits the Jupiter Lighthouse

National Oyster Day falls on August 5, and Lucky Shuck in Jupiter is marking it the right way — with its 6th Annual Oyster Eating Contest.

The rules are simple: 90 seconds, eat as many oysters as you can. Each competitor gets a starting tray of 36 oysters, with additional trays available if you blow through the first one. Oysters must be swallowed to count, and winners need to keep them down for three minutes after time expires. Tiebreakers are settled with a first-to-finish-12-additional-oysters sprint.

Only 20 spots are available to compete. Entry is $25, and all proceeds benefit the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum — a nice touch for a local community staple. Sign-in opens at 4:30 PM with the contest kicking off at 5:30 PM.

Not ready to compete? Spectators are more than welcome, and Lucky Shuck is running $1.50 oysters all evening for anyone who wants to cheer from the sidelines with a cold beer.

Prizes include Lucky Shuck gift cards and swag bags for the winners.
