Jupiter Town Council Opposes Paid Beach Parking Proposal, Advances Fire Station 13 Renovation
JUPITER, Fla. — The Jupiter Town Council tackled several important items during its July 21 meeting, including taking an official stance against Palm Beach County's proposed expansion of paid beach parking and approving the next phase of improvements to Fire Station 13.
Town Opposes Paid Beach Parking
One of the evening's most notable actions came when Council unanimously approved Resolution 100-26, formally opposing Palm Beach County's proposal to expand paid parking at public beaches.
The proposal, currently under consideration by Palm Beach County, could introduce hourly parking fees at county-operated beaches, including locations popular with Jupiter residents and visitors.
By adopting the resolution, the Town is formally expressing its opposition before the County makes a final decision.
Fire Station 13 Renovation Moves Forward
Council also approved Work Order #1 with Williamson Design Associates for $275,440 to begin design work for renovations at Fire Station 13.
The project represents the next step toward modernizing the facility to support future public safety needs.
Fire Impact Fees Adopted
Council approved Ordinance 29-26, adopting new fire impact fees.
Impact fees are typically collected on new development to help fund the infrastructure needed to serve future growth, including fire protection facilities and equipment.
Additional Business
Among several other items approved during the meeting:
- A two-year $400,000 membrane services contract for the Town's water treatment operations.
Easement agreements with the Loxahatchee River District for Fire Stations 10 and 12.
A maintenance agreement with Jupiter Cove Condominium for right-of-way maintenance.
Meanwhile, a proposed amendment involving the Shoppes at Jupiter redevelopment was postponed and is expected to return for future consideration.
