Jupiter Town Council Advances Public Safety, Infrastructure Projects During June 16 Meeting

JUPITER, Fla. — The Jupiter Town Council approved a series of public safety, infrastructure, and community development initiatives during its June 16 meeting, including major investments in fire rescue operations, water infrastructure, and community programs.

Among the evening's actions, the Council approved amendments to local fire prevention regulations to adopt the latest Florida Fire Prevention Code and Uniform Fire Safety Standards. Council members also approved ordinances establishing procedures for issuing trespass warnings on public property and expanding the Special Magistrate's authority to hear related appeals.

The Council authorized a permit fee study for the Town's Building and Fire Rescue departments as well as a water rate study for the municipal utility system. Officials said the studies will help evaluate future service costs and funding needs.

Public safety investments included approval of a new fire station alerting system and the purchase of a second set of personal protective equipment for firefighters. The Council also approved the acquisition of a sewer camera inspection system to support utility operations.

Additional actions included adoption of the Town's 2026-2027 Community Development Block Grant Action Plan, which allocates $327,086 toward eligible community projects, and approval of a $1.86 million contract for construction of the RO14 wellhead project.

One of the evening's most significant votes came on Resolution 61-26, adopting the non-ad valorem assessment for Fire Rescue Services. The measure passed with support from three council members, while Mayor Jim Kuretski voted against the resolution.

The Council also confirmed its first budget workshop meeting for June 18 as preparations begin for development of the Town's next fiscal year budget.
