Jupiter in Brief: School Plan Splits Farms, Council OKs New Homes, Bacteria Warning at DuBois Park
🏫 Proposed Christian School Divides Jupiter Farms
A plan to build a new K-12 Christian school on Indiantown Road is drawing sharp lines between neighbors.
Supporters say the growing region desperately needs more educational options, especially private, faith-based institutions. However, opponents worry the development would overwhelm two-lane rural roads with school traffic and erode the agricultural character that defines Jupiter Farms.
The project now faces a key zoning hearing on June 4, where the town council will hear final public testimony before deciding whether to grant the necessary land-use changes.
🏡 Council Approves Nearly 100 Homes Near I-95
The Jupiter Town Council has given initial approval to Pulte Homes to construct nearly 100 single-family homes on a 60-acre site near I-95 and Indiantown Road.
The land was originally designated for industrial use, intended to attract biotech and research companies to the area. But after years of stalled interest, the council voted to rezone the property for residential development.
Critics argue the change abandons long-term economic diversification for short-term housing gains. Supporters note the region’s persistent demand for new homes.
A final vote is expected in late May.
⚠️ Health Advisory: Stay Out of Water at DuBois Park
The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County has issued a water quality advisory for DuBois Park.
Recent water samples showed high levels of enterococci bacteria, which can cause gastrointestinal illness and skin infections. Officials strongly recommend against swimming, wading, or any water-related activities at the park until further notice.
Signs have been posted at the park, and officials are testing daily. Residents are urged to share the warning, especially with families planning a beach day.
