Historic Day for Jupiter: 90 Firefighters to Take Oath as Town Launches Its Own Fire Rescue Department

JUPITER, Fla. — Monday, June 1, marks a historic milestone for Jupiter as 90 operational firefighters officially take their Oath of Service during the Jupiter Fire Rescue Swearing-In Ceremony.

The ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre and represents one of the most visible steps in the Town's transition to its own municipal fire department — the first in Jupiter's history.

The newly formed Jupiter Fire Rescue Department is expected to begin full operations later this year, ending decades of fire and rescue services provided through Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. Town officials have described the move as a major investment in local control, service quality, and long-term financial sustainability.

According to recent Town discussions and funding projections, Jupiter Fire Rescue is expected to cost nearly $10 million less in its first year than the amount currently paid for county-provided fire services.

Interest in joining the department has been strong. More than 1,500 applicants competed for just 90 positions, allowing the Town to assemble what leaders have called a highly experienced and community-focused team.

Monday's ceremony will formally welcome those firefighters into service as they pledge to protect Jupiter residents, businesses, and visitors. Town officials, community leaders, family members, and residents are expected to attend the event.

The swearing-in ceremony comes amid a broader rollout of the new department, which includes staffing, training, station preparation, and funding measures approved by the Jupiter Town Council earlier this year.

For many residents, the ceremony represents more than a personnel milestone — it symbolizes a new chapter in Jupiter's approach to public safety and emergency response.

The Jupiter Fire Rescue Swearing-In Ceremony will take place Monday, June 1, at 10:00 a.m. at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, located at 1001 E. Indiantown Road.
