Florida’s largest statewide student film competition has reached a new milestone, with the 31st Annual Palm Beaches Student Showcase of Films receiving a record 636 submissions from 95 high schools and colleges.
With entries now closed, the 2026 competition moves into the judging phase, where 47 industry professionals from across the country will evaluate student work. The panel reflects a broad spectrum of the entertainment industry, spanning film and television production, casting, digital art, visual effects, performing arts, and media education.
This year’s showcase embraces a “Set-Jetting” theme, exploring how locations shape storytelling and become integral characters within a narrative.
The judging panel includes several high-profile names, such as Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Theodore Melfi, entertainer Robert “Vanilla Ice” Van Winkle, and veteran cinematographer Michael Jordan, whose credits include major productions like Avengers: Endgame and Stranger Things. They are joined by a diverse group of creatives, producers, educators, and media professionals who bring decades of experience to the evaluation process.
Submissions will be judged across multiple categories, including film, animation, documentary, commercials, music videos, digital media, and screenwriting.
Finalists will be revealed during a live awards ceremony on May 1, 2026, at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. The event will kick off with a red carpet at 9:30 a.m., followed by the awards presentation at 10:30 a.m., celebrating the next generation of filmmakers and storytellers across Florida.
